Cumbria Minerals and Waste Local Plan: UPDATE

Following approval of the draft Cumbria Minerals and Waste Local Plan at Cumbria County Council’s Cabinet meeting last month, the consultation draft of the plan has been published and the consultation about the contents of the document has commenced.  The Local Plan covers the 15-year period from 2014 to 2029. It sets out the Council’s policies for the provision for mineral working, for safeguarding mineral resources and associated mineral developments, and for waste management. It covers those parts of Cumbria that are outside of the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks.

Engage with the Plan

Planning policy is the primary consideration in the determination of planning applications. The current consultation provides a real opportunity to influence the content of the plan and its policies. It is vital that the minerals and waste industries engage with this process and collaborate with the County Council to create a plan which reflects the needs of all in the plan area. Stephenson Halliday Ltd would be pleased to assist our existing clients or anyone else who may be affected by the policies and provisions of the plan in making effective representation to the County Council.
