Newton Manor Farm wind turbine approved at appeal

Stephenson Halliday undertook the landscape and visual impact assessment for this application, recently approved at appeal.

Key issues in the appeal were the landscape and visual effects of the turbine.

The Inspector noted: “The proposed turbine would inevitably have an effect on the character of the landscape. However it would not significantly detract from the other distinctive elements which make up the existing character. So while the proposal would introduce considerable change to the landscape, that change would not in itself result in substantial change.

“The proposed wind turbine would be a substantial structure and would be clearly visible at relatively close range from a number of residential properties particularly in Newton. However at that distance the medium scale turbine would not be so obtrusive or overbearing as to be unacceptable.”
