15 MW Wind Farm

Details & Location

Tomich, Highland

Decision Pending

Stephenson Halliday produced a Landscape and Visual Assessment on behalf of WPD Ltd for Beinn Mhor Wind farm (7 turbines, 119.5m to blade tip) near Tomich in Highland.

The main issues were site design and relationship with operational wind farm nearby at Corrimony as well as potential impacts on designations, wild land and landscape character.  In addition the visual impacts were a key concern, including the potential impact on tourism, in particular Glen Affric.

The application was submitted to Highland Council in April 2014.  Following further consultation with the council WPD decided to formally revise the Beinn Mhor scheme by reducing the scheme to a six turbine development.   Stephenson Halliday completed a supplementary Landscape and Visual Assessment as part of an SEI submission in September 2014 based on the six turbine scheme.
