Type

Quarry Extension

Details & Location

Lateral extension to the operational sand quarry at Preston

Status

Granted November 2008

Stephenson Halliday co-ordinated the Environmental Statement to accompany the planning application for an extension to the existing sand quarry operations. The extension provided an additional 760,000 tonnes of sand to be worked over a period of 12 years including recycling and waste transfer activities.

The restoration proposals focus upon the development of the site into a nine hole golf course, with associated club house with other proposed ancillary developments consisting of a nursery, car parking area, stables and paddock. The nature conservation interests established as part of proposals include wildlife ponds, seasonal wetland areas, wildflower meadows and areas of native woodland designed to enhance locally important wildlife corridors.

The application was granted permission by Lancashire County Council Committee in November 2008.

Post Planning Permission for the lateral extension Stephenson Halliday have assisted J.A Jackson with supplementary applications relating to the following:

  • Discharging / compliance of planning conditions;
  • The erection of a washing plant;
  • Construction of replacement site plant garage, weighbridge and office building.
