Wind Farm

Details & Location

20no. wind turbine proposal off the A9, south of Inverness in the Scottish Highlands with a generating capacity up to 60MW.

Consented in February 2012, increased capacity in Jan 2014 and construction is expected to begin in early 2014 with the wind farm being commissioned in early 2016.

Stephenson Halliday prepared Detailed Feasibility, Design and Mitigation Proposals as well as the Landscape and Visual Assessment (LVIA) and Cumulative Assessment for this project. We conducted a thorough residential assessment and carried out both pre-application and post-application consultation work with SNH (no objection), The Highland Council and assisted with engagement by Carbon Free with local communities.

Views from the A9 was the key issue for this proposal and we carried out a detailed route assessment, including a 3-D animated visualisation to demonstrate the visual effects from this key route and optional enhancement measures. This site was consented by the Scottish Government in February 2012.

We have provided Carbon Free Developments with specialist landscape and visual advice/support on several other wind farm developments in Scotland with a 100% success rate with this developer.
