Details & Location

Planning application and discharge of conditions for scheme to alleviate sewer flooding, Newcastle upon Tyne.

Status

Approved June 2014

Our client required planning permission for a scheme to alleviate underground sewer flooding affecting a number of residential properties.  The works comprises both underground and surface development including the provision of a gravity storage tank and associated weir chambers, three new access points to the site, removal and replacement of trees and ground re-profiling and reinstatement.

Stephenson Halliday was required to interpret the relevant technical information to the local planning authority as part of the planning submission and during its determination.  This included provision of additional information to explain the modelling and design of the proposals with regards to overland flooding at the site.  Tree removal and replanting concerns were resolved though our negotiation between our client and the planning authority’s landscape officer to reach an agreeable solution.

Following approval of the application, our services were retained to vary and discharge a number of planning conditions.
