Details & Location

Feasibility study for single wind turbine near Haverthwaite, Cumbria

Status

Feasibility completed, planning application preparation underway

Stephenson Halliday was approached to provide planning advice for a potential wind turbine development on the edge of the Lake District National Park. We undertook a feasibility study which considered the potential effects of the proposal with a focus on landscape and visual impacts.  We used wireframe diagrams which considered different turbine heights and locations to recommend a scheme which would minimise the effects on the Lake District NP whilst meeting the objectives of our client in terms of wind speed, site access and grid connection availability.

The feasibility study included a synopsis of the current planning policy situation and provided honest advice as to the challenging nature of obtaining consent for the proposal.  We made recommendations for further assessment required should planning permission be sought, including a breakdown of the likely costs involved.

We have recently begun to prepare the planning application for this proposal.
