Withernwick Wind Farm – LVIA

Wind Farm - LVIA

Details & Location

26MW Wind Farm, East Riding of Yorkshire

Phase 1 – Consented March 2009, Phase 2 – In planning

Stephenson Halliday undertook landscape and visual impact assessment, including cumulative assessment, for Phases 1 and 2 of the Withernwick Wind Farm.  This included the provision of high quality visualisations and figures and residential visual amenity assessment.

Phase 1 of the scheme was subject to a public inquiry at which Stephenson Halliday Director Kenneth Halliday appeared as an expert landscape witness.  The key issues explored at the inquiry were the benefits of the wind farm balanced against the impact on landscape character and visual amenity, including the effect on living conditions, and the cumulative impact of the scheme having particular regard to the approved Whitehill Gas Storage Facility. The Inspector agreed with our view that the scheme was acceptable and the appeal was allowed.

Stephenson Halliday contributed to the design and layout process of Phase 2 of the wind farm to ensure that landscape and visual effects in combination Phase 1 have been minimised.
